Substrate Tips
Endura Fab Printing
When printing on the Endura Fab substrate make sure to run the color calibration on LexJet Simple Flo Wrap Vinyl BEFORE removing the platens and replacing them with the ink collector.
Magnum Magnetics Digimag
When printing with this media make sure to use the "Output Platen Protector". Because of the nature of printing on a magnetic substrate, the material will have a tough time advancing without this added barrier in the heating area.
Troubleshooting Options
Calibration Failure
In the event that a substrate calibration is obsolete and the calibration fails try the following steps to remediate before resorting to the Hard Disk Recovery.
Step 1: Go to the "Quick Solutions" menu.
Step 2: In the "Test Plots" submenu, run the "Print head Status Plot" to verify if any of the print heads are clogged.
Step 3: If the test plots seem irregular, enter the "Maintenance Routines" submenu.
Step 4: Run the "Clean Printhead" utility THREE times.
Step 5: In the "Test Plots" submenu, run the "Print head Status Plot" to verify if any of the print heads are clogged.
Step 6: Run the substrate calibration utility and repeat Steps 1-4 as needed or proceed to Hard Disk Recovery.
Substrate Mismatch
If a substrate is loaded and the incorrect substrate is chosen in the printer menu, then changed to the correct substrate after the initial selection was made, the printer and Onyx Thrive RIP software may not update properly. In this case, restarting the computer running Thrive should fix the issue.
Hard Disk Recovery
From time to time we've been experiencing an issue with the printer where the media calibration will fail repeatedly. This has to do with some sort of cache or RAM issue. Executing the Hard Disk Recovery will basically purge files that are not needed. After performing the Hard Disk Recovery, simply recalibrate the media and it should work fine.
Step 1: On the front panel display, go into the Settings Menu.
Step 2: Go into the Service Menu.
Step 3: Enter password "3174" and hit OK.
Step 4: Go into Service Utilities.
Step 5: Go into 1.11 Hard Disk Recovery.
Step 6: "Unsecure Hard Disk Erase" Press OK to continue.
Step 7: "This will clean some folders on the hard disk" hit OK to continue.
Step 8: "Diagnostic result: OK" Press OK to continue.
Step 9: System will restart. Once the machine comes back online, you should be good to calibrate your media.
