Lords of the Fallen had a rocky start, launching with a host of frustrating technical issues like constant stuttering. However, after several months of updates and improvements, it has become a somewhat overlooked yet great soulslike with several standout features — most importantly, much better overall performance. The game's detailed graphics , already highly praised at launch, deliver a unique dark fantasy world filled with interconnected locations, hidden spots, and shortc
These music videos don’t have much to do with the overall narrative, if anything at all, but they do act as fantastic breaks between the fast-paced action that let you pause and recompose yourself after a tough fight. They’re very reminiscent of Alan Wake 2’s chapter ending songs , adding more flavor to the world and setting the tone for what’s to c
Using spirits in the heat of combat also shines a light on one of Black Myth 's more unfortunate problems. While I didn't experience any severe, game-breaking bugs during my time with Black Myth: Wukong , there are still some technical issues that players will have to deal with. Using spirits occasionally made the game stutter and freeze for a brief second, which may not seem like a big deal, but can have serious consequences in tougher fights. Other times, activating spirits simply didn't work because the game read the input as a different action. Players have to hit both triggers to use a spirit, but sometimes the Destined One would spin their staff instead. Any action assigned to the bumpers seemed to be slightly unresponsive from time to time, which can lead to a lot of headache in a game like this. The game also occasionally mixed-up the audio and subtitles. Despite having English audio and subtitles selected, a couple of scenes switched to Chinese audio and subtitles before correcting itself a few minutes later. Even then, that was better than the rare instances where audio cut out completely with no subtitles to Read the Full Guide at
As a soulslike, Lords of the Fallen distinguishes itself with innovative mechanics, such as the exploration of two parallel worlds, and fresh takes on throwables, magic, and customizable checkpoints that players can place as nee
After just a little over a minute into the final trailer, it gives a brief, half-minute glance into the game's combat, including several of Black Myth: Wukong 's highly anticipated transformations. The first transformation shown in the trailer has been confirmed by hands-on previews of Black Myth: Wukong to be obtained after players defeat Guangzhi, a wolf guai who wields a double-bladed flame staff. The Destined One then proceeds to subdue a large group of enemies in a series of frenzied flame strikes using the newly acquired transformation. From there, four more transformations are seen using their unique abilities to vanquish foes in some rather bizarre and brutal w
It doesn’t help much that these open areas are absolutely massive. That might sound great from an exploration standpoint, as you naturally stumble across secrets and helpful items, but without any kind of guidance, it can be difficult to keep track of where you’ve been or where you need to go. It’s a game that desperately needs a map, and while the decision not to include one feels deliberate, I can’t help but feel it would have stopped a lot of needless backtrack
