Startup[edit]
Starting up the Frontier 570
- Make sure main breaker, located at bottom right of the sorter rack side, is flipped up.
- Flip the power switch, located at top left of paper magazine/densitometer side, to ON. Wait for LCD display to read "FRONTIER", then flip the power switch to STANDBY.
- Turn on the computer tower. Wait for software to boot up.
- (Only complete this step if it is a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. If Tuesday or Thursday skip to step 5)Once each heater status reads OFF, check to make sure there are no prints on the sorter and that the rack conveyor is locked (see the switch on the side below the sorter.) Lift the sorter unit and load the control strip carrier into the gap in the first processor rack. Close the sorter unit. Click OK on the heater status window. Once the control stip is loaded, click OK on the control strip window. Look at the LCD screen and console on the 570. To begin control strip processing select "YES" and hit ENTER. Wait while the control strip is processed.
- Cancel out of control strip boxes until you reach main print screen "Panda".
- If condition prints have not been calibrated for the day, run the condition prints 570.
- To initiate printing of new orders activate smaller "Digital Link Request Spooler" adim window, and click the "Accept incoming orders" (magenta arrow pointing into green thing) and "Enable processing" (alternating green arrows) buttons.
Condition Prints[edit]
How to perform paper balancing using condition prints on the Frontier 570:
- From the main print screen "Panda" select the "4-Maintenance" button. Leave the password field blank and hit OK. Select "Print Condition Setup and Check" then "[421] Paper condition setup". *The paper magazines must be preloaded and initialized (which is when the paper compartment stops making noise) before you open the Paper condition setup window.
- Select a paper magazine (top or bottom) and hit PRINT. After the "Creating..." dialogue box disappears you can print from the other magazine or use the MEASURE function.
- Once your condition print has been birthed from the dryer unit, slide it gradient side first (the solid black block arrows point forward) into the densitometer using the sliders to center it. Hit the green start button on the densitometer. The condition print will retract. Hit the MEASURE button on the screen and wait while a reading is taken.
- If the window indicates the condition print is within range, move on. If the window indicates it is not within range, repeat the print and measure steps until you get an in range reading.
- Process matte papers together and glossy papers together.

Paper Feed[edit]
How to send blank sheets through the printer after cleaning:
- From the main print screen "Panda" select the "4-Maintenance" button. Enter "7777" into the password field and hit OK. Select "Printer Adjustments/Maintenance" then "Paper Feed".
- Enter the number of sheets you want to send through, the width of the cut and select which magazine you want to feed from.
- That's it.
Adjusting Paper Length[edit]
- Select Upper or Lower magazine
- Enter Magazine ID
- Press Print
- Measure End to End of both papers printed
- If it IS NOT the desired length, go to step two - make sure the Magazine ID is correct and enter the length of the paper printed for example) Print 2 for 4x paper is 252mm not 254mm as it should be, enter 252mm where it says Print2 (make sure you are adjusting the right deck
- Press SET and print again
- Remeasure
- If it measures out to the correct dimensions press set at the bottom of the screen and close
